Acupuncture has been practised in china for some 3500 years. Since the early 1990s, Alison has practised this ancient form of healing incorporating chinese herbal medicine.

HOW CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP?

Many people seek acupuncture to help with specific symptoms or conditions. Others choose acupuncture as a preventative measure to strengthen their constitution, or because they feel generally unwell. Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages including babies, children and the elderly. It can be very effective when integrated with conventional medicine.

What to expect

The Chinese view health as a reflection of harmony between the internal organs, energy, blood and body fluids. A comprehensive diagnosis is made based on the person’s body, mind and spirit disposition. This holistic approach is central to Chinese Medicine. Fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body to clear imbalances and regain harmony.

Chinese medicine focuses on each individual in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Each symptom is identified within a range of complex patterns, and every symptom, however insignificant, holds meaning. Often Alison sees clients who come with a western named condition. After unravelling the nature of disease, she makes sense of what the client is experiencing and formulates a plan of treatment. Each prescription is tailored to the individual with endless nuances and possibilities; the aim is to regain balance in order to restore health.

Clinics & Bookings

Chinese herbs can be taken by the traditional brewing of raw herbs, or made into convenient capsule or powder form. All the ingredients are natural, and there are over 400 herbs in common use. No two prescriptions are the same for each client and remedies are therefore tailored for the specific ailment of the person. Over the last year, Alison has continued to increase the number of herbal prescriptions given to her clients. This progression towards combining acupuncture treatment with Chinese herbal medicine has been strengthened by the positive results in clinic. To make an informed Chinese medical diagnosis, it is crucial to draw upon all the ancient knowledge handed down over the centuries. Alison has enjoyed and continues to enjoy spending time researching classical herbal formulae and their various modifications.

Alison is a member of the RCHM, which is the largest professional body governing Chinese herbal medicine in the UK.
